ISSO

Indigo Dyer

Tokiko Kajimoto is an indigo-dyeing artist from Tokushima, Tokushima Prefecture, who learned her craft from a well-known local dyer. She and her son, Yudai Kajimoto, produce and sell their own products under the name ISSO.

ISSO also do commissioned work,such as dyeing large tapestries, and collaborate on dyeing projects. Her motivation is to convey the beauty of indigo (ai) at all times. She likes to use resist-dyeing techniques and enjoys exploring a great variety of fabrics to developnew products, dye patterns or complete artworks. Her works are offered by boutiques as well as shown in galleries and exhibitions. ISSO are also represented regularly at European lifestyle fairs such as Maison & Objet in Paris with their silk scarves and other products.
